Paymail proposes an invoicing and money transfer service directly via email, aiming to simplify financial transactions by linking email addresses to bank accounts. The founder is seeking a React + TypeScript developer offering equity, citing insights from a banking outsourcing background. The project aims to reach MVP relatively quickly.
A starter prompt for Claude Code, what you'll need, and how to reach them.
You are a senior full-stack engineer. Your task is to develop a proof-of-concept for the core 'Paymail' functionality: allowing users to send invoices and initiate money transfers via email. Focus on a minimal viable product (MVP) that demonstrates the secure linking of an email address to a mock bank account and simulates a transfer. Use Next.js 16 App Router, React 19, Tailwind v4, and Neon Postgres on Vercel. For email handling, integrate with a transactional email service like SendGrid or Mailgun. For banking integration, use a sandbox environment of a payment processor like Stripe Connect or Dwolla to simulate account linking and transfers without real money. **MVP Scope:** 1. **User Authentication:** Basic email/password authentication (e.g., with NextAuth.js) and user profile creation. 2. **Mock Bank Account Linking:** Allow a user to 'link' their email address to a mock bank account within the application. This would involve a simple form to enter account details and a confirmation step, storing this securely in Neon Postgres. 3. **Invoice Generation & Sending:** A simple form to create an invoice (recipient email, amount, description) and 'send' it via the transactional email service. The email should contain a link back to the Paymail app for the recipient to 'accept' or 'pay' (simulated). 4. **Simulated Money Transfer:** For the recipient, clicking the 'pay' link should trigger a simulated transfer from their linked mock bank account to the sender's. This is purely internal to the app's database for MVP. 5. **Transaction History:** Display a basic transaction history for both senders and recipients. **Deliverables:** * A functional Next.js application hosted on Vercel demonstrating the above MVP features. * Clear documentation on how to set up and test the simulated email sending and payment flow. * Focus on security best practices for handling sensitive (even if mock) financial data. **Build/Verify Gate:** The ability for two distinct users to sign up, link mock accounts, send an invoice from one to the other via email, and for the recipient to 'pay' it within the app, showing the transaction reflected in both users' history.

Rebuild Paymail as a Canadian-focused interbank email transfer service, leveraging existing Interac e-Transfer infrastructure if possible, or new FinTech partnerships, to simplify transfers between different Canadian financial institutions.
Paymail | Engineer | REMOTE | Startup Equity Only Paymail is an invoicing and money transferring service over email. Because it's alot easier to send $50 to email@example.org than to send it to a long series of digits representing a branch and account number. In a way Paymail is an internet native payments competitor to x402.org. I'm the founder and I'm on a mission to make every bank your email provider. I spent the last year working for a banking outsourcing company and it gave me some good insights into what's possible in the FinTech world. I'm currently searching for a React+Typescript developer with good design instincts to give a huge chunk of equity to and become a cofounder of the company working with a well written medium sized React+Typescript codebase that represents our product. Startups are busy but to get the product to an MVP stage is not very far away at all so it would suit someone looking for a potentially profitable side hustle or on a full time basis as well. “I've built a functional MVP demonstrating a simplified email-based payment flow, complete with mock bank account linking and invoice sending, using Next.js and Postgres. I'm keen to discuss how this prototype aligns with Paymail's vision and explore potential collaborations.”
