Neocom is a Munich-based company building 'shop agents' for online retailers. These AI-powered agents provide natural language chat guidance to help customers find products, mimicking an in-store salesperson. They launched their new product in November and are seeing strong customer demand, now hiring senior frontend engineers.
What they want, where you stand, and the exact résumé edits to qualify.
Biggest lever: Lack of onsite availability in Munich and direct Cypress experience are major blockers for this specific role.
A starter prompt for Claude Code, what you'll need, and how to reach them.
You are an expert full-stack developer. Build a 'shop agent' MVP for an online clothing retailer. The goal is a chat interface where customers can ask for product recommendations and get 'opinionated' advice based on a provided product catalog. Use Next.js 16 App Router, React 19, Tailwind v4 for the frontend. For the backend, set up a Vercel AI SDK v6 integration with Gemini for natural language understanding and response generation. Use Neon Postgres with pgvector for storing product data and enabling RAG. The MVP should include: 1) A clean chat UI with input field, message history, and support for displaying product cards (image, name, price, link). 2) A basic API endpoint that takes a user query, performs a vector search on a seeded product catalog, and generates an 'opinionated' product recommendation using Gemini, integrating the product details directly into the response. 3) A simple mechanism to 'seed' initial product data (e.g., from a JSON file or CSV, ingested into pgvector). Focus on getting the core chat interaction and product recommendation flow working smoothly. Deliver a Vercel-deployable codebase. Once the core is working, add Cypress tests for the chat interaction flow.
GermanyUnited States
Rebuild 'shop agents' for a specific niche of US online retailers (e.g., small boutique fashion stores or specialty electronics) that lack sophisticated guided selling tools, integrating with common US e-commerce platforms like Shopify or BigCommerce.
neocom | Senior Frontend Engineer | Onsite | Munich, Germany | Full-time We at neocom are building shop agents for online retailers. Customers can chat naturally, get clear guidance, and find the right product faster, just like talking to a great, opinionated salesperson in a physical store or like chatting with an LLM, that actually knows about the products in the shop and has an opinion about them. We are based in Munich with a strong onsite culture (not full time). We've been in the guided selling space for the past 6 years and launched our new product, the Shop Agent, last year in November. Our customers who are already on this new product are loving it and demand more and more features. We are now looking for founding frontend engineers who can help our engineering team (4 people + 2 starting in September). We consider our selfs as craftsman, who care a lot about quality. A lot. We have a classic TypeScript + React.js stack with a lot of cypress. You can find more here: https://chief-inch-5e2.notion.site/Senior-Frontend-Engineer-... Ping me (CTO) at ssl @ neocom.ai
For this specific role, the onsite requirement is a deal-breaker. If considering similar roles without that constraint: Gain hands-on experience with Cypress by integrating it into a personal project, focusing on end-to-end testing for a React/TypeScript application (1-2 weeks to build and integrate). Explore common e-commerce frontend patterns and build a small demo feature leveraging an open e-commerce API (e.g., product search with filters, shopping cart interaction) to demonstrate domain familiarity (2-3 weeks).
Standard Next.js deployment
Standard relational database, plus basic vector embeddings
Part of AI SDK v6 knowledge
Simple data preparation

“I'm a solo founder who's built a working MVP of an AI shop agent that provides opinionated product recommendations for online retailers. I've focused on conversion-driven chat experiences. I'd love to share my demo and discuss how my approach aligns with your vision for neocom's Shop Agent.”
